Silly Animals

Just a little post of some silly animal designs from work. I love doing this kind of silly character stuff. These are all hand drawn and inked then painfully vectored in illustrator and FINALLY flat coloured in macromedia freehand. Quite a journey for a silly graphic hahaha.

Work for the soul

On my list of things I intend to do...is a small nameless comic. My progess is slow but my interest is fanatical.

Art for arts sake

Since starting work in dublin I've been in a wonderful and unfamiliar situation. When I leave the studio....that's the end of work for the day. So I get to, for the first time, draw for no reason other than wanting to. I don't think i've ever been so unpressured. I'm not drawing to improve or impress someone...i'm just creating whatever I want because I want to. I hope I can hold on to this feeling in the future and harness it to do my bidding.

I'm getting less and less time to actually DRAW now that i am busy in work making sure vectors are vectors. I love pencils. mechanical ones. They're amazing. Not enough is drawn with pencils nowadays I don't think. Especially not by me. I am constantly without paper in work and it gets a little sad.

That being said I think my digital colouring technique has improves ten million fold.

The way we were

I recently found some of my old keys for scenes that never were in a film that barely was.
Judging by them at least....it was intended to be much better than it was. Its an unfortunate thing, having to please a team of people with very very different views. haha.

I may very well reanimate the whole piece just for the sake of my own sanity.

Colour and detail

Ever since starting work in Dublin Ive been limited in the amounts of colours/detail I can put into a design or drawing. BUT HEY! because of this it means I go home and draw and colour like crazy. Millions of colours, man! and DETAIL! Ive had so much fun drawing these, I hope you can see it.

Vectors

Learning to use illustrator, freehand and other vector based programs.

Its funny to look back now on my first attempts at creating finished things with vector based programs. what used to take me hours now takes only minutes.
